Read Across America Day on March 2

NEA-sponsored Read Across America Day is coming up! On March 2, classrooms all across America will celebrate the joy of reading. This year, NEA is partnering with The Lorax, the new film based on the Dr. Seuss book that also opens on March 2! AEA Efforts Pay Off as Retirement Contributions Set to Return to 50/50

Great news for teachers across the state: the Arizona legislature has introduced a bill that would return the employee/employer split of retirement contributions to an even 50/50. According to azcentral.com, teachers may even see a refund from overpayments made into the retirement system during the current school year. In an attempt to balance the budget this year, the legislature changed the contribution rate so that teachers had to pay 53% instead of the 50% that they have paid for several years. This proposed return to 50% is a direct result of AEA's ongoing efforts and conversations with new Arizona Senate President Steve Pierce. Thank you, AEA!
